• This module focuses on the concepts of self-directed learning, change and human development. Basic communication skills are examined. An overview of the structure and functions of the human body is provided with an in-depth examination of the integumentary and musculoskeletal system.
  • This module provides the opportunity to further develop the concepts introduced in Module A. Participants explore and practice communication skills which contribute to effective interpersonal relationships. The concepts of loss and separation are examined. The structure, function and age related changes of the cardiovascular system are also examined.
  • This module will expand upon the anatomy and physiology of the human body. New concepts including holistic health, death, dying, bereavement and problem solving techniques will also be examined. The environment and its impact on the person with changes in mental functioning will also be explored.
  • This module further explores the concept of health, in addition to health promotion activities and healthy lifestyles. The structure and function of the urinary tract and nervous system will also be examined. The role of the Resident Care Home Support Attendant in the health care system is also introduced.
    This course also builds upon content from other courses to further develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values required for practice as a RC/HSA.
  • This module will integrate the theory learned from the previous modules and relate it to the experience of health and healing by older clients with chronic health challenges and/or disabilities.
