Using the "Book"

The "Book" tool in Moodle is the one you're using right now. It sets out individual pages as one complete package.

Table of Contents

The table of contents displays a list of all the pages in the book. You can click on any of the table of contents links to go directly to that page. The page that you are currently viewing will be highlighted (as shown above).

Note: Individual pages in the book are also referred to as chapters.

Printing Tools

There are two methods for printing the information from a book. You can choose to print just the page (chapter) that you're viewing , or you can print all the pages in the book as one continuous document.

Look at the diagram above. The print icon on the left is for printing the whole book, and the one on the right is for printing just the page, or chapter, that you are currently viewing.

Navigation

There are two ways you can navigate within the book. As you've already learned, you can jump to individual pages by clicking on the page title in the table of contents. You can also use the arrows in the top right corner. They work just the way you would expect them to. Clicking on the left arrow will move you back a page in the table of contents, while clicking right arrow will take you to the next page listed in the table of contents.

Now that you've learned to use the book tool, you can move on to the next page in this lesson to learn about Moodle navigation, by clicking on the "next" button, or by clicking "Navigating in Moodle" in the table of contents.
