You must read at least two of the following books and then submit a 500 word summary of each book read:

1. Spiritual Midwifery, by Ina May Gaskin

2. The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth, by Henci Goer

3. The Birth Partner, by Penny Simkin

4. The Doula Book: How a trained companion can help you have a shorter, easier and healthier birth, by Klaus, Klaus and Kennell

7. Special Women, by Paulina Perez

8. The Mother of All Pregnancy Books: A Canadian Guide to Conception, Birth and Everything in Between, by Ann Douglas

You can probably order some of these books from your local library. It's a good idea to make notes while you are reading. You will be able to submit your book reviews in Module 3. Remember, you have up to 6 months to complete this reading assignment. If you are unable to find a book on the list, please contact me regarding other book ideas. Other books may possibly be considered if they have comparable content.I am pretty flexible as I know there are many great books out there. The book review should be a general overview of the book. It should also include what you liked and disliked about the book. Any suggestions you would make and whether you would or would not recommend it. You can write this summary in any format you choose so long as it adheres to the content just described.

ATTENTION: Cranbrook Campus has just ordered several of our required books and now has them in their library. If you happen to live nearby, this may be a good option for you.
