As part of your Birth Doula Studies experience, you are offered flexibility in the completion of your second practicum.

Option one consists of the attendance of two births.

Option two consists of the attendance of one birth plus a completed community research project.

For your project you can choose to focus on lactation or bereavement. I would like to see a full interview summary with a resource that provides support services to your community. I would like to know what services they provide, how they assist women, babies and families, and I would love to hear history on their inception. I would like your interview to be full bodied and provide proper citing so that I may verify if needed.

I would also like you to research and compile a list of resources in the community that offers services to families under your chosen topic umbrella. I would like to hear your thoughts on what services are lacking and are needed in your city. I would like to hear how you plan to work withing the framework of your chosen topic and when you feel it best to refer forward.

This assignment needs to be three typed pages (font 12 TNR) in addition to a title page

Ideas for interviews can include the following:

Bereavement: Hospice society, funeral home, bereavement doula, bereavement counsellor

Lactation: Lactation Consultant, breastfeeding counsellor, La Leche League leader, Breastfeeding clinic
