Hello there aspiring doulas.

I am so excited to meet and get to know you all. We are going to have a great time working through the Online Birth Doula Studies Program. This course is set up for success and I will help you every step of the way.

First a little housekeeping. Week one is about familiarizing yourself with "moodle." We gently ease into the program during module 1 and get into tougher areas during modules 2 and 3.Once you get the hang of it, its simple. You will notice first off that there is an overview of the program expectations, how to go about your practicums and forms for you to print off (there is a form submission area in module 3...don't worry ). Read all of that and get the hang of it.

Secondly, I will open each week as we come upon it. Usually I do it the Friday previous. Within each week you may see a few things.

5. A discussion question

You are expected to view everything. Most assignments are due within the week they are assigned. The discussion questions are always due the same week. You MUST answer the question from your own experience, thoughts and views. You MUST also thoughtfully respond to atleast one other student. The purpose is to get discussion going, provoke thought and hopefully learn from one another, even if we disagree.

When discussing, you may include a link to a source to support your thoughts. But no cut and paste unless it is well cited and is in addition to your personal views.

Each assignment tells you how to submit. If you have any trouble, please email me. You can also view your welcome letter to obtain the correct person to solve specific problems.

If you go to the participants link, you can read alittle blurb about me and about each other. There is also a link so we can send one another messages privately.

Please please please print off the volunteer verification sheets, plus the birth verification sheets. Please read about how to submit practicum documents and what is required. There is a practicum document submission area in module 3.

It goes without saying, but I will say it anyways. Be kind to one another. Lets work harmoniously and respectfully. Part of being a doula is seeing the shades of grey while still passionately sharing your opinions. I can't wait!
