Check & Update as needed
Course Outline Link: https://sharepoint.cotr.bc.ca/outlines/Course%20Outlines/ABCD123.pdf- update with course ID (e.g. MATH111, HCA107, etc.)
- links to the official course outline on SharePoint; identified as mandatory by Doug McLachlan, VP Academic in 2014
Course Start Date- If you have extra sections at the start of your course page (e.g. course resources, assignment information, etc.), you will need to move your start date back one week for each extra section.
Extra Blocks- The ILP integration is adding extra blocks to the left-hand column in courses. Until we find a solution, these need to be removed manually. Directions are here. For more detailed information about using and configuring course blocks, click here
- Check grade book categories are set to reflect course outline to protect against grade challenges
- DO NOT delete ILP created groups (they look like this: ABCD-102-OL01R (CS130056) )
- Create parent Groups for sections that have R, D and/or I designations so students within a section can interact with each other
- Use for discussions, group projects
- Use with Restrictions to separate different sections if you have a multi-section course
- copy as needed; directions for copying can be found here
- use whenever students are required to create an account on a site outside the College of the Rockies network; most important if the site is located outside Canada.
- provides the informed consent component required by both the federal and BC Privacy & Freedom of Information legislation

Accidentally delete something; not a problem, deleted items can be retrieved for up to six days after they were deleted.

The College has licensed Teams for students, so they can use it's fully.
To use Teams fully, your computer needs a webcam, microphone, and speaker/headset.
The College currently supports the Join by Link option.
If you use the Join by Phone option, you would need prior approval for the costs to be covered.
If you have problems with Teams, please contact the IT Help Desk, local 3702

- Your student ID
- The course number: PSYC 101-01 (modify as appropriate)
- Activity: Assignment #1 (modify as appropriate)
- Brief description of your problem
- Your contact information - phone & email address
- A couple of dates with times that you are available - check the COTROnline Help Desk hours at the bottom of the page.
You will get a Teams invitation for one of the dates/times you provide and someone at the COTROnline Help Desk will contact you to provide help.

Welcome to this module on online course design!
This module will introduce you to the important elements of online course design as they pertain to you and your students. What matters in regard to you are essential questions you must ask yourself before you begin structuring your course for online delivery. What matters in regard to your students is the major shift in their learning habits from the F2F classroom to the online learning classroom that comes with big trade-offs in how they learn. Here's an opportunity to stop doing what doesn't work and do more of what does.
